Building trust in media
“Building Trust in Media in South East Europe and Turkey – Phase 2” is the UNESCO EU-funded project aimed at increasing critical thinking among youth thanks to the piloting of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) skills in formal and non-formal education. To achieve this objective, UNESCO is providing technical support to authorities, duty-bearers, and curricula development agencies, offering teacher training to introduce MIL curricula in primary and secondary schools, and enhancing the MIL capacities of youth development agencies and organisations.
While the project is implemented in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, NorthMaceodnia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Turkey, as well as in Kosovo* (under UNSCR 1244), the piloting of MIL in formal and informal education is conducted in Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina and is aimed to be replicated at a bigger scale. The other two specific objectives within the project are to improve the capacities of media outlets to counter misinformation and disinformation and strengthen media accountability and good governance towards users thanks to sustainable self-regulation mechanisms.
